Rasul Nasir, Soke

Born December 9, 1953 at Kings County Hospital of Brooklyn New York. Soke began his interest in the martial arts while in the 4 or 5th grade at Public School 148 in Brooklyn, NY, sometime around 1958-1959. He attended the class after school in the cafeteria. While a teenager and resident of the Marcy Houses he began training in Shotokan Karate under his best friend Michael Stevens aka Slim. It wasn’t his dream to become martial arts teacher, but today he accepts his position as a blessing from Allah. Soke says, ” we make our plans, but Allah is the best of planners “. Today he accepts his role with all his heart.

Now involved in martial arts for over 60 years. He is the founder of the 27 Ways of Nasir Ryu. Soke has provided executive protection to high profile personalities and has enabled many of his students to pursue careers in law enforcement. Soke’s strong focus on education has encouraged many of his students to attend college, with some of them going on to achieve doctorates in their respective fields of study.

Soke earned a B.A in Communications / Journalism. He is a recognized author and publisher in the world of martial arts.
